Srinagar: National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah has said that if his party wins in the upcoming elections, NC will grant division status to Chenab valley and Pir Panchal regions.
In a tweet, Omar said:
After the elections of 2019 should the people of J&K repose faith in @JKNC_ our government will grant division status to Chenab valley & Pir Panchal regions as already laid out in our regional autonomy promise.

He also added NC will not adopt a pick and choose approach like the Governor and the regional autonomy document will be his party’s template.
We will take care of regional & sub-regional aspirations. We won’t adopt the pick & choose approach of the Governor but will instead take a holistic view & address the wider problems. Our regional autonomy document will be our template.

Recently, Omar said that if his party is elected with a majority in the assembly elections, he will do away with the controversial Public Safety Act (PSA).“I assure you and through you I assure the people of Jammu and Kashmir that the day National Conference makes its government on its own, God willing in 2019, within days I will repeal PSA. I am telling you (workers) that I will blot it out from the papers forever,” Omar said amid applause from his party workers.
Recently, Farooq Abdullah, Patron of NC had said that if they are voted to power with absolute majority, they will bring in the autonomy resolution within a month.
“If am blessed with good health by Allah and we’re voted to power with absolute majority, I promise that I will make this happen (regional autonomy) within 30 days after assuming power.”
