Omar calls Mustafa, enquires about his well being

‘Exemplary action should be taken against the erring officer’

 

Srinagar: Former Chief Minister and Working President of the National Conference Omar Abdullah called senior photo journalist Tauseef Mustafa and about his well being.

Omar, while strongly condemning the incident demanded that government should take exemplary action against the erring police officer.

Media is the fourth estate of a healthy democracy and they have a significant role to play in holding the system accountable and ensuring injustice and impropriety is highlighted. This spirit of respect for our journalists should be upheld at all costs and I demand that stern action should be taken against the erring police officer”, Omar Abdullah said.

Mustafa and several others were performing their professional duties outside the residence of Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani when the duty officer man handled nad tried to ‘suffocate’ Mustafa, who works for the AFP.

Srinagar: National Conference Working President Omar Abdullah on Friday called Veteran Photojournalist and AFP Photographer Tauseef Mustafa and strongly condemned the assault on him by an officer of the J&K Police.
Inquiring about Tauseef’s well-being, Omar Abdullah said he strongly condemned the assault while demanding that the Government and the Police Leadership takes timely and exemplary action against the erring officer.”
