We will see a changed Kashmir within a year, no matter how it happens: Singh

‘Fully agree with Army Chief, those obstructing security operations will face consequences’

Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday said that in a year we will see a ‘transformed Kashmir’. Singh stressed that ‘no matter how the change comes’, a new valley will be on the fore within a year.

“You will see a transformed Kashmir in a year. No matter how the change occurs, one thing is certain, that there will be a change in Kashmir in a year’s time,” said the Home Minister.

Singh also pointed out that he ‘fully agrees’ with Army Chief Bipin Rawat’s remarks that all those who protest and pelt stones near encounter sites will be dealt with sternly.

“Those doing such things will have to face the consequences,” said Singh while speaking during an interactive session.

Singh also expressed that Farooq Abdullah, President of the National Conference should not have defended the stone pelters. Abdullah had recently said that stone pelters are fighting for their ‘nation’.

Speaking about the issue of Triple Talaq, Singh said that the government has been very clear about their stand and such a provision is not even in the Quran.

While crediting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP President Amit Shah for the massive victory in Uttar Pradesh, said that even they were not expecting such a landslide win.

“I thought we would get around 250 seats. We didn’t expect we will get 325 seats in UP,” Home Minister said.

On construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya, Singh said that the issue is sub-judice. “If both the sides reach a solution, it will be alright but if not, then all will have to abide by court verdict,” he added.
