Srinagar: The exchange of fire between suspected militants and armed forces during the Tral encounter has stopped.

Eye witnesses at the encounter site told the FreePressKashmir that the forces have brought in a JCB to search the encounter site.

Gunfight between militants and armed forces started in Saimoo village of Tral this morning.

“There is no exchange of fire while a JCB is searching the gunfight site,” a youth who is present in the area told the FreePressKashmir.

Two to three militants, including popular Hizb ul Mujahideen commander Sabzar, were believed to have engaged the forces in the encounter.

The militants are believed to have taken shelter in a house which has been completely damaged by the artillery used by army, JKP SOG and SOG.

Reports are being circulated on the social networking sites that two youth are accompanying Sabzar.

They were identified as Faizan and Umer. Faizan, who studied in class tenth, along with Umer had snatched a rifle from personnel in main town Tral on March 04 – the day Maulvi Aqib, a Hizb militant was killed – and joined Hizb ul Mujahideen.

Sabzar Ahmad Bhat and Faizan are residents of main town Tral while Umer’s family lives in Loroo.

Various news channels and news websites reported that Sabzar has been killed in the encounter, however, JK Police as well as Defence spokesperson refused to confirm about the casualties to the FreePressKashmir.
