Army claims killing five suspected militants along LoC in Uri, combing operation going on at four places

Srinagar: Indian army on Friday claimed that it killed five suspected militants who tried to sneak in to this side of the Jammu and Kashmir along the Line of Control (LoC) in Baramulla’s Uri area.

The Army claimed that its men foiled another alleged infiltration bid which was fourth in last fourty eight hours.

A high alert was sounded along the LoC last afternoon as the incident took place.

A defence spokesperson said that on Thursday multiple attempts of alleged infiltration across the LoC were foiled by troops resulting in the killing of seven militants.

On Thursday, two alleged infiltration bids were foiled in Uri and Machil sectors, in which three militants and a jawan were killed.

Three Army jawans were also injured in the crossfire.

On Wednesday, another infiltration was foiled in Machil in which four suspected militants were killed.

Massive search and combing operations by the Army are going on in four areas near the LoC — Nowgam, Machil, Keran and Uri.

According to the Army, it has successfully foiled seven alleged infiltration attempts in less than a fortnight in north Kashmir.
