Srinagar: Army on Saturday claimed that one militant was killed in Bandipora’s district.

“A militant was killed as an infiltration bid was challenged in Gurez sector of Kashmir,” said an army official.

It is a day after that the Indian army claimed that five militants were killed in Uri sector of Baramulla district.

The army has said that it killed killed twelve militants in last three days in various encounters across Kashmir.

The army has alleged infiltration bids in Kupwara, Bandipora and Baramulla districts from across the Line of Control (LoC).

All the three districts of Kashmir share LoC with Pakistan administered Kashmir (PaK).

The FreePressKashmir tried to seek further details from Srinagar defence spokesperson, Colonel Rajesh Kalia, however, he did not respond to repeated calls.

However, a police official posted in Bandipora told this news magazine that there were “reports of firing and shelling in Bakhtoor area of Gurez”.

“The firing has started last late evening,” the police said reluctantly sharing the details.

The area falls along the LoC, he added. “A police party has left for the spot but it will take them at least six hours to reach Bakhtoor.”

Gurez is home to Shina ethnic people. The only road link accessible to common people remains closed for at least seven months a year due to heavy snowfalls in the valley.

Besides the common masses, there is huge concentration of India army in Gurez besides one police station and one police chowki.
