Srinagar: Hurriyat patriarch Syed Ali Geelani on Monday paid tributes to slain Qazi Nisar.

Geelani, the ailing chief of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, said while remembering Dr Qazi Nisar on his 24th anniversary, hailed his “religious, social, and political contribution”.

“Dr Qazi Nisar was a religious scholar and a firebrand orator,” Geelani, who was a candidate of Muslim United front (MUF) elections in 1987, said.

“He played a stunning role during campaign launched by Muslim United Front,” said Geelani while praying for eternal peace to his soul.

“During resistance struggle, he played a vital role in bringing revolutionary changes in nook and corner of state,” Geelani added.

Anantnag town – the home town of late Nisar – is observing a complete shutdown today in memory of Nisar.
