Four people were injured at the scene when they were coming out of the mosque. Rest four, who live in nearby apartments received shrapnel injures.
Eight people including a seven year old girl was injured after gumnen opened fire in front a mosque in Avignon city of France, reported La Provence, a local newspaper.
Worshippers were leaving the Arrahma mosque when at least two “hooded men” pulled up in a Renault Clio and started firing.
The attack is not being considered as terrorism.
A statement from the prosecutor’s office read, “From what we know this evening, the mosque was not targeted. The fact that it happened in the street of the religious establishment was unconnected with it.”
