We denounce the dastardly act of killing innocent Amarnath pilgrims: Jama’at

Srinagar: Jama’at-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday strongly denounced the killing of seven Yatris here on Monday.

Seven Amarnath pilgrims were killed and 19 injured, after a suspected militant attack on the government forces in Batengoo, a village between Khanbal and Bejbehara, an area of Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir.

“We denounce the dastardly act of killing seven innocent Amarnath pilgrims and injured twelve others including women folk,” a Jama’at spokesperson said.

The organisation’s stated position on the Kashmir conflict is that Jammu and Kashmir is a disputed territory and the issue must be sorted as per UN or through tripartite talks between India and Pakistan and the real representatives of J&K (Pro-Independence).

“This is a cowardly act which only a frustrated lot can commit,” the spokesperson added.

The Jama’at expressed “deep anguish over this beastly incident and calls upon all conscientious people to come forward and ask for an impartial probe in this ‘gruesome act’ by some ‘international impartial agency’ to bring forth the truth so that no one gets a chance to ‘defame Islam’ which is the religion of mercy and humanity in perfect sense.”

Condemning the attack, the Jama’at further added that “this merciless act has no justification in the teachings of Islam. The mysterious circumstances under which this attack took place, speak volumes about the suspicious role of some unknown elements with the vicious design to defame Kashmiri Muslims”

Jama’at-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir while expressing ‘deep sorrow and shock over this heinous inhuman act’ ‘extended its solidarity with the bereaved families of Gujarat and also those who got injured.’
