Three youth injured after army opened fire in Bandipora

Srinagar: At least three youth were injured after the Indian Armed Forces opened fire in Saderkoot Bala area of district Bandipora on Saturday.

Three Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militants were killed today in a gunfight with the Indian Armed forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Sopore town.

The injured have been identified as Hilal Ahmed Wani, Latief Ahmed Khan and Suhail Ahmed Bhat from Sadrekoot, Bala.

All the injured have been shifted to a hospital for treatment.

Earlier, protests rocked the area against the killing of a local militant Abid Hamid Mir killed at Amargah Sopore this morning.

Three militants of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) outfit were killed in an encounter with government forces in Amargrah area of Sopore on Saturday morning.

Cellular and mobile Internet services excluding Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district were suspended following the killing of the three LeT militants.

The services were suspended as “precautionary measure” in Baramulla district. The mobile Internet services barring broadband remain down in the district.

The authorities had directed all cellular companies to suspend cellular and mobile Internet services in Baramulla to “prevent spread of any rumour on social media,” an official said.

According to a news report in Kashmir Life, a weekly magazine based in Kashmir, educational institutions have also been shut in Handwara, Hajin and Sumbal areas of north Kashmir, as part of a ‘precautionary measure’.
