Bangladesh claims a historic test victory over Australia in Dhaka

Bangladesh claimed a historic first Test victory over Australia in Dhaka, with spinner Shakib-ul-Hassan securing the win with 10 match wickets.

Australia, chasing 265 for victory, always looked in command to clinch the first Test of the two Test series. With David Warner smashing 112 on the 4th day, Australia seemed to have the match in the bag.

Steve Smith’s Australia looked favorites at 158-3, but lost last seven wickets for 73 runs.

Australia lost seven wickets in an engrossing morning session on Wednesday with Glenn Maxwell becoming Shakib’s 10th wicket of the match, bowled with the first delivery after lunch break.

Earlier Shakib became only the fourth bowler to take five wickets in an innings against every Test playing nation.

Celebrating his 50th Test appearance, Shakib scored 84 runs in the first innings to cap off a brilliant all round performance.

The second and final Test in the Series starts in Chittagong on 4 August.
