New Delhi: Congress-backed student’s union National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) staged a comeback in the Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) polls by bagging the posts of President and Vice-President. While the RSS-backed Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), which had won three seats last year, including that of the president, could only win posts of secretary and joint secretary.
For ABVP the results are seen as a setback as they had swept all four posts in the elections held last year.
NSUI’s candidate Rocky Tuseed won the President’s post with 16,299 votes and Kunal Sehrawat took the position of Vice-President with 16,431 votes. ABVP’s Mahamedha grabbed the post of Secretary with 17,156 votes while Uma Shankar with 16,691 votes won the position of Joint-Secretary.
ABVP’s Rajat and Paarth who were contending the posts of President and Vice President won 14,709 votes and 16,256 votes, respectively. NSUI’s secretarial post candidate Minakshi won 14,532 votes and joint secretarial candidate Avinash won 16,349 votes.
