Government carrying baggage of neglect from previous governments: Sartaj Madni

Assures full support to under-developed areas of Chenab valley

Gool Arnas: Assuring full attention towards the under-developed areas of the state, vice-president of People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Sartaj Madni said that the present government is carrying the baggage of neglect from the previous government.

Madni was addressing a gathering at Gool Arnas where several workers from National Conference and Congress joined PDP.

He said that the government has been grappling with difficulties arising out of mismanagement of funds for development and that is why hilly areas including Gool have not been able to keep pace with the developed areas of the state.

“PDP government is committed to undo this dismay by ensuring that administration is geared up for rational utilization of available resource for key sectors like roads, bridges, public health, power and rural development,” he said.

Madni said that Chenab Valley is rich in water resources and has contributed a lot to the state’s economy. “The area needs to be compensated fully,” he added.

He expressed dismay over the rising unemployment and lack of economic activity and assured the people that Chief Minister Mehbooba will ensure appropriate redressals.

Madni sought intervention of the Chief Minister in ensuring that locals of the region get priority in employment arising out of the ongoing projects sponsored by the central ministries.

He said that it is unfortunate that locals of Gool have not been the beneficiaries of Sangaldan railway project and hoped that railway ministry will ensure that priorities be accorded to the locals in jobs and contracts.

The gathering was also addresses by PDP coordinator and local leader Imtiyaz Shan who placed before the visiting dignitary a charter of demands for roads, employment and drinking water management.

Sartaj Madni has been visiting the hilly areas of Pir Panchal and Chenab valley for lats 5 days.
