Srinagar: A gunfight broke out between militants and Indian Armed forces in the Shopian district of south Kashmir on Monday.
An official said that gunfight began after forces cordoned off the Gatipora village in Keller tehsil of the district following “specific” inputs about the presence of militants.

Reports in the Greater Kashmir, a newspaper based in Srinagar said, “He (the official) said that militants hiding in the village opened fire after forces approached the suspected site, drawing retaliation from the forces.”
“The exchange of fire is on,” he said.
