GoI appoints ex-IB Director as govt’s representative on Kashmir dialogue  

New Delhi: The Government of India has appointed the former director of Intelligence Bureau (IB) Dineshwar Sharma as it’s representative who will initiate dialogue with all ‘stakeholder’ in Kashmir.

Addressing a press conference, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh said that a sustained dialogue will be initiated by the government to find a solution to the Kashmir issue.

When asked will Sharma hold talks with the Hurriyat Conference leaders, Singh said that He will decide with whom he wants to hold talks.

Sharma, a 1979-batch (retired) officer of the Indian Police Service, served as the IB director between December, 2014 and 2016.

The initiative has been taken as per Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Independence Day address, the home minister said.
