On Saturday, the Jammu and Kashmir Government ordered closure of educational institutions in Srinagar, apparently in the wake of killing of a militant in Zakura area on the outskirts of Srinagar on Friday.

“Due to long winter vacations, strikes, official holidays and other reasons, the academic calendar in Kashmir Valley is very short. Right from April this year, the Government ordered closure of schools and colleges dozens of times to manage the situation which has badly affected the education of students,” Tarigami said in a statement.
