Jammu: The main Opposition party National Conference on Tuesday accused the government of turning Kashmir Valley into a ‘prison’ ahead of the January 26.
As soon as the proceedings of the House began, NC legislators were up in arms and protested against the “harassment” of people by the government forces in Kashmir ahead Jan 26.
“Kashmir has been turned into a prison. Why are people being harassed?” asked Ali Muhammad Sagar of the National Conference.
He said that people are not being allowed to come out of their homes in Kashmir. The Congress also staged walkout to protest over the death of civilians in cross-border shelling while the ruling BJP shouted anti-Pakistan slogans.
Government forces in the valley are on an alert ahead of Jan 26. Check points have been set up in various parts of the city. Poeple are being frisked and thoroughly checked.
