Srinagar: In the ongoing Kulgam gunfight, the army has used helicopter gunships against the militants who are trapped in a house in the area.
An eye witness told the Greater Kashmir that helicopter gunships were used to fire at the house where militants are trapped.
“Huge blasts were heard after helicopter gunships fired at the house,” he said, adding that one house has been completely razed to the ground while two others have caught fire.
So far, there has been no confirmation on militant killings. Two militants were believed to be trapped inside the house.
So far, three civilians have been killed in clashes which erupted near the gun fight site. More than than 50 people have been injured in those clashes. An Army man has also died in the gun fight.
The civilian deaths occur just two days after Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti met the Prime Minister and Defence Minister of India. In her meeting with Narendra Modi, she had appealed for finding ways to end the bloodshed and alienation in the valley.
During her meeting with Nirmala Sitharaman, Mehbooba had called for a ‘humane approach and avoiding collateral damage during security operations’.
