Was attacked in Udhampur, says Tribal Activist Talib Hussain, Police begin investigation

Chairman All Tribal Coordination Committee, Talib Hussain who is a lawyer-activist working on the Kathua rape and murder case, on Friday, alleged that he was attacked in the in Udhampur. The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Saturday said that it is investigating the complaint.

“Udhampur Police has taken cognizance of the matter and is investigating his compliant,” tweeted Jammu and Kashmir Police.

In January, Hussain, who was detained during protests against the murder, had said that the persons involved in this “heinous crime” are not being punished because of “political influence”. He was only released the next day after his arrested sparked protest in the Assembly. Since then he has been at the forefront to secure justice for the victim.

Earlier Hussain had claimed that the real culprits in the rape and murder of minor Kathua girl were being shielded in a planned manner under the “guise of 15-year-old’s age”.

“Her two ribs and a leg were broken. She was given electric shocks. She was clubbed by stones,” Hussain had said.
