Operational Commander of JeM among the four killed in Tral, says DGP

The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday claimed that one of the militants who were killed in a gun fight in Lam forest area of Tral, was the operational commander of the Jaish-e-Mohammad outfit.

The Director General of JK Police SP Vaid in a tweet said Mufti Yasir was the one among the killed militants on that day.

Vaid also posted an undated picture of the said commander with Jaish chief Masood Azhar.

 

Yasir was killed along with three associates in a 12-hour gunfight in Lam forests of Tral on Tuesday. Two among the slain were local residents – one belonging to Handoora and the second one to Khargund Tral.

An army man and a cop were also killed in the firefight.

Earlier, the police had said that two among the killed militants were top commanders. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Awantipora, Muhammad Zahid had informed Kashmir News Service (KNS) that four Jaish militants including a top commander, Omar Khalid who had replaced Mufti Waqas was killed in the gun fight.
