Ramzan Ceasefire: ‘What after this month? Will GoI start killing people of Kashmir again?’

Srinagar: A seminar organised by the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) titled ‘Responsibility of Leadership in Safeguarding the Sanctity of Martyrdom’ was held at the amalgam’s Rajbagh headquarters here.

Without directly referring to Ramadan Ceasefire Mirwaiz Umar Farooq said that no temporary initiative can prove fruitful unless steps are taken to address the basic dispute of Kashmir. He asked what next after this month? Will Government of India start killing people of Kashmir again?

Mirwaiz said that Kashmir is not an issue of economic doles or privileges but a political and humanitarian issue and it is our consistent stand that this issue can be resolved either by implementation of UN Resolutions on Kashmir or through a sustained result oriented meaningful dialogue among India, Pakistan and the people of Kashmir and that military might can’t muzzle the genuine aspirations of people of Kashmir.

The speakers who addressed the gathering include Hurriyat leaders Prof Abdul Gani Bhat, Bilal Gani Lone, JKLF chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik, heads of trade organisations that include Kashmir Economic Alliance head Muhammad Yasin Khan, Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industries Javaid Ahmed Tanga, senior trade union leader Sampat Prakash and Hakeem Abdur Rashid, who was representing the Hurriyat Conference led by Syed Ali Geelani. The seminar was moderated by Moulana M S Rehman Shams.

JKLF chairman Mohammad Yasin Malik said that operation all out started by the GoI through its forces in Kashmir was not only against militants but against the political pro-freedom leadership too. He said in such circumstances, where Delhi’s intentions are clear, the only option left with the Kashmiri people is to resist this onslaught with unity.

Prof Abdul Gani Bhat said the Kashmiri nation is a wise nation and people like him are not the watchmen of darkness but light. He stressed on forging unity on all fronts till the final goal is achieved.

Senior Hurriyat leader Bilal Gani Lone said that when we talk of collective leadership then individual approaches and agendas are to be made subservient to the collective cause.
