Top cop of the state Shesh Paul Vaid on Thursday said that the families of the local militants should take advantage of the Ramzan ceasefire and persuade their sons to shun militancy.

On Wednesday, the Government of India said that the armed forces will not launch operations during the holy month. However, the ministry of Home Affairs added that the forces reserve the ‘right to retaliate or if essential to protect the lives of innocent people.’The Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti welcomed the ceasefire and thanked Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Prime Minister Modi for their personal intervention.
However Al Umar Mujahideen and Lashkar-e-Toiba have rejected the Ramzan ceasefire initiative.
