‘Dialogue inevitable, leadership must not debilitate the process’

Srinagar: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Tuesday termed the present political situation as ‘extremely positive’ for ending an era of uncertainty and chaos and make peace and tranquility inseparable features of Jammu and Kashmir.

In a statement, PDP General Secretary Mansoor Hussain Sohrawardhy said the people of Jammu and Kashmir were yearning for peace for long and the present situation could emerge as a win win deal for the common masses who have been bearing the brunt of hostilities and witnessing bloodshed and mayhem for decades.

He said that leadership of the state has a chance to prove its loyalty towards the people of Kashmir and translate the ideas of dialogue and reconciliation into a living reality. Mansoor said that amid the vicious cycle of violence claiming precious lives, need for dialogue has become inevitable.

“Government of India’s offer of talks must be reciprocated with the positive approach by the leadership of the state as it is the common man who suffering in the present period of uncertainty. It is high time that those at the helm must check the power tussles, ego clashes, and internecine conflicts, which have repeatedly debilitated the dialogue and reconciliation process,” Mansoor said.

The Joint Resistance Leadership, in their statement said that the offer of New Delhi is ‘unclear and ambiguous.’  However, if the ambiguity is cleared, they are ready to join the process.
