Armed forces vehicle mows down three civilian protesters in Srinagar’s Nowhatta, one critical

Three youth were injured, one of them seriously, after they were hit by a CRPF vehicle during clashes in Nowhatta area of Srinagar on Friday. Reports said that the CRPF vehicle hit the youth during protests after congregational prayers at the historic Jamia Masjid.

They said that the injured youth were shifted to a hospital for treatment.

One of the youth identified as Mohammad Younis, as per doctors, has polytrauma. “When we received him at SKIMS hospital, he is intubated. We are monitoring his condition but he is very critical,” said an official from the hospital.

While giving details about another injured youth, the official said, he is also critical. “Both the injured youth were received by JLNM hospital, Rainawari.”

The police sources have confirmed the injury to two youth, however, they said they are ascertained the details of how they were injured.

Pertinently hundreds of people held a peaceful protest after the weekly congregational prayers at Jamia Masjid Srinagar.

As the protest was going on, a speedy CRPF vehicle hit two youth who were part of the protest, witnesses said.

Witnesses said that the injured were immediately rushed to the hospital for treatment.
