Kashmir’s premiere body, Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) delegation headed by its President, Javid Ahmad Tenga on Friday met Finance Minister Altaf Bukhari.

Finance Minister agreed to the demand of KCCI, that they be taken on Board of Directors and Shareholders Jammu & Kashmir Trade Promotion Organisation.

In regard to GST on Handicrafts he understood the need to bring Handicrafts to zero level and assured the Chamber that he will raise the GST Issue in the upcoming GST Council Meeting.

In regard to waive off Input Tax waiver to Flood affected traders he assured that necessary relief will be provided once the assessment is finalized.

In regard to prohibitive airfares he promised to look into the model presented by Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry, to create corpus fund for JKTDC Travel Division, in order to buy tickets for tourist season in bulk at lower rates. By this corpus fund we can attract more and more tourist and give relief to needy Patients and students.

An alternate suggestion also made by the KCC&I , to provide Insurance cover to those tour organizers who bring bulk tourism to state, particularly from Maharashtra and Gujarat, for the stocks of air tickets which they purchase ahead of at least three months from the start of tourist season in Kashmir, was also approved to be considered as a solution to overcome huge surge in prices of air tickets purchased at the time of actual need.
