Two cops killed, five CRPF personnel injured in two militant attacks in the valley

In two separate incidents involving attacks by militants in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama and Anantnag district, two policemen and five CRPF personnel were injured on Tuesday morning.

In Pulwama district, SSP Mohammad Aslam Choudhary said that two police personnel were killed and another injured.. In an official statement to GNS, sources said that militants opened fire on the police post resulting in on spot death of two security guards and injury to another at Takiya Wagam which is opposite to Government Degree College, Pulwama (Barpora Kareemabad).

The injured police officer, Manzoor Ahmad has been shifted to SMHS hospital for further treatment. The deceased cops are identified as Selection Grade Constables Ghulam Rasool and Ghulam Hassan.

In Anantnag district, a police spokesperson said that militants threw a grenade at Janglat Mandi which led to 5 personnel suffering minor injuries. The injured were shifted to the hospital where they were being looked after.

Earlier, in the wake of Union Home Minister’s visit to the capital, talks about Ramzan ceasefire agreement between the Centre and the state had prompted militant outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba to outrightly reject such a compromise, dubbing it as nothing but ‘drama’. BJP party leader Amit Shah was also quoted as saying that the ceasefire during the holy month of Ramadhan was ‘not for militants’,thus bringing into point that the ceasefire, technically had not been violated.

He was also reported to have said that the Government of India had taken the initiative to ‘ruthlessly uproot terrorism’.
