Srinagar: B.V.R Subrahmanyam assumed office as JK Chief Secretary on Saturday, along with B.B Vyas, who assumed office as advisor to the Governor.
Subrahmanyam assumed office from former Chief secretary, Vyas. He was welcomed by Principal Secretary Home, R K Goyal, Principal Secretary, Health & Medical Education, Dr Pawan Kotwal, Principal Secretary Planning, Development & Monitoring Department, Rohit Kansal, Commissioner/Secretary, General Administration Department, Hilal Ahmad Parray and other senior officers.
He, till recently, had served as Additional Chief Secretary Home, Chhattisgarh Government. He had held key administrative positions in the Government of India. He was serving as Director in the Union Commerce Ministry, before being appointed as Private Secretary to the then Prime Minister during 2004-2008.
He worked as a Senior Advisor with the World Bank from June 2008 to September 2011 before joining the PMO again in March 2012 as Joint Secretary. He stayed in the PMO till March 2015 and then moved to his cadre state Chhattisgarh.
B B Vyas was welcomed by senior officers at the Civil Secretariat here. Vyas was till recently holding the post of Chief Secretary, Government of Jammu and Kashmir. An IAS officer of 1986 batch J&K Cadre, Vyas has earlier served as Principal Secretary to different Chief Ministers, Financial Commissioner and Administrative Secretary in Planning and Development Department.
In other news, advisor to Governor, Vijay Kumar today visited Army Hospital, Badami Bagh and enquired about the condition of forces personnel injured in different militancy related incidents across Kashmir in recent days.
He met all the injured and wished them a speedy recovery. He also interacted with the doctors attending to them and enquired about their condition and asked for providing the best available treatment.
