Srinagar: Union Home Minister, Rajnath Singh, along with a high-level delegation of government officials, arrived here this evening on a two-day visit to Jammu & Kashmir to review the security situation in the State.

The Home Minister was received at the Technical Airport here by Advisors to the Governor, B B Vyas, K Vijay Kumar and Khurshid Ahmad Ganai, Chief Secretary BVR Subrahmanyam, Director General of Police Dr S P Vaid, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan, Deputy Commissioner Budgam, Dr Sehrish Asgar and senior officers of the paramilitary forces.

The Home Minister is accompanied by National Security Advisor, Ajit Doval, Union Home Secretary, Rajiv Gauba, Joint Secretary Jammu and Kashmir, Gyanesh Kumar and other officers of the MHA.

Rajnath Singh in March had said that New Delhi wanted a permanent solution to the Kashmir problem and are “open to speak to anyone”.

Singh had claimed that he had personally asked the then Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to ignore cases against ‘first-time stone pelters.’

“Kashmir is, was and will be ours always. We want a permanent solution to the Kashmir problem and we are open to speak to anyone,” a report in News18 quoted Singh as saying. “Government interlocutor Dineshwar Sharma was accommodating and moving forward in the direction to resolving issues,” he said.
