Modi invokes ‘Insaniyat, Kashmiriyat, Jamhooriyat’ in his Independence Day speech

‘Kashmir problems can be solved by embracing people’

Prime Minister of India Narendra Damodardas Modi, on Wednesday, during his speech on Independence Day said that every problem in Jammu and Kashmir can be solved by ’embracing its people’.

According to a report published by Hindustan Times, Modi in the speech said that there should be ‘equal and balanced’ development in all three regions of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh.

“The expectations of the people should be fulfilled, infrastructure should be strengthened and we should walk with everyone. We don’t want to move in the path of guns and abuse,” Hindustan Times quoted Modi as saying.

“Atalji called for Insaniyat, Kashmiriyat aur Jamhooriyat. I also said that the issues in Kashmir can be resolved by embracing the people of Kashmir,” the report mentioned.

Modi said that Jammu and Kashmir, which is under Governor’s Rule, will hold panchayat and local body elections, however, he did not mention the exact date.
