Srinagar: Tehreek-ul-Mujahideen chief and United Jihad Council (UJC) General Secretary, Sheikh Jameel-ur-Rehman denounced the killing of a Lolab resident in Khanyar area of Srinagar and said the killings of Islamic scholars and pro-resistance people won’t frighten the Kashmiri people.

The resident was identified as Abdul Ahad Ganie, a resident of Tewan Mohalla Lalpora Lolab Kupwara, who had been shot in the head while he was driving a car (No. DL 3C AY 6352), in Khanyar area of the Srinagar city.

Reports said that Ganie, who had been pursuing a PhD from Aligarh Muslim University, had been visiting his in-laws who resided in Khanyar.

In a statement, Rehman said that this is not the first time that unknown gunmen have been blamed for killing of well-wishers of Kashmiri resistance. “These unknown gunmen are Indian forces and their agents who are carrying out massacre of Kashmiris in a planned manner,” he claimed, in the statement.

He said the “cruel” killings of Islamic scholars and pro-movement people would inspire Kashmir struggle. “India and its agents would have to pay for the innocent killings,” he said.
