2:00 pm: Bodies of slain militants identified
Srinagar: The bodies of two militants were identified as foreign militant operatives from Jaish-e-Mohammad and both had reportedly been from Pakistan, police said on Thursday on Twitter.

The militants have been identified as Ali alias Athar, and Zia-ur-Rehman. Ali was previously known as having a hand behind the Sopore IED blast in which four policemen had been killed.
Earlier, a joint team of army’s 22RR, SOG and CRPF laid a siege in the area following specific information about the presence of some militants late last night.
SSP Sopore Javid Iqbal said that the gunfight broke out after the hiding militants lobbed a grenade and opened fire on a search party.
“Internet has been suspended in the area as a precautionary measure,” an official stated.
All educational institutions remained closed in view of the shootout and search operation.
“All schools and degree college Sopore falling under the municipal limits of Sopore will remain shut today as a precautionary measure,” read an order, issued by the ADC Sopore.
