Party doors open for anyone seeking to strengthen Article 35-A, says NC

National Conference on Saturday said that the doors of the party were open for anyone seeking to strengthen Article 370 and Article 35A.

Reacting to PDP leader Altaf Bukhari’s statement, wherein he had said that both PDP and JKNC should form a government in unison, NC chief spokesman Agha Ruhullah said that the party had unilaterally offered support to PDP after 2014 elections which they declined.

“Our party is not after power and chair, the apprehensions on our part about BJP being in power stand vindicated today,” he said. “If anybody wants to join, the doors of JKNC are open to anyone who seeks to strengthen Article 370 and Art 35A,” he added.

Senior National Conference leader and MLA Kangan Mian ALtaf had said National Conference is open for a joint struggle with PDP but the decision to ally with PDP for forming a government lies with Omar Abdullah only.

The statement had come in reaction to Altaf Bukhari’s willingness for tie up with National Conference for government formation to fight Article 35-A and communal forces strongly.

Bukhari had welcomed the suggestion of J&K Civil Society Coordination Committee for tie up between NC and PDP for formation of the new government in Jammu and Kashmir to defend the Article 35-A and to fight communal forces.

Bukhari had said, “the suggestion of NC and PDP joining hands for a joint fight on Article 35-A and against rise of communal forces in Jammu and Kashmir made by the PDP’s senior leader is a welcome move but the decision to form a government in alliance with PDP lies with Omar Abdullah only.”

“Forming a government and stitching an alliance with PDP is not an easy job but very difficult keeping in view the present political scenario in the state. So only Omar Abdullah can talk about for forming a government in alliance with PDP whether for Article 35-A or for fighting communal forces in the state,” he had added.
