Srinagar: BJP Dooru Constituency President, Ghulam Hassan Bhat resigned from the basic membership of the party along with workers with immediate effect from today. He also withdrew his nomination papers from the upcoming Municipal elections.
Reports came in Bhatt told a correspondent that, “I withdrew from the party because BJP played with the Kashmiri people. My party failed miserably in solving issues of public importance. No problem of the common man was solved. What is the point of staying the party if we haven’t been able to fulfill our promises?”
“Along with all of my workers from Dooru constituency, I have resigned from the party. Apart from Ward no. 9, 10 and 11, I have withdrew all nomination papers from the Municipal elections. There are two Kashmiri Pandits from Ward 12, 13 who will also not withdraw.”

Ahead of the upcoming municipal elections, a conundrum has ensued with independent candidates citing extreme dissatisfaction with security arrangements, over a dozen youth being arrested and a petrol bomb having been hurled at a BJP candidate’s residence in Gojwara.
Meanwhile, the Joint Resistance Leadership has called for a shutdown in Kashmir on October 8.
“JRL leaders asked people to observe complete shutdown across Jammu and Kashmir on 8th October to protest the commencement of the ULB and Panchayat election drama being foisted upon them,” said a JRL statement.
