Pulwama: After seven Army personnel injured in IED blast, army men allegedly assault villagers

Srinagar: At least seven Indian army personnel were injured when militants ambushed their Casper vehicle in Pulwama district of Kashmir.

Official sources that militants detonated an IED when a Casper vehicle of army’s 55 RR was passing through Trichal Bridge on the Pulwama-Lassipora road around 9:45 pm on Thursday. In the IED explosion, seven soldiers were injured.

Three of the personnel with grave injuries were removed to Indian army’s Badamibagh cantonment hospital in this capital city for treatment, they said.

Meanwhile, a local news agency reported that the militant outfit Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) has claimed responsibility for the attack.

The outfit has claimed that 3 army men were killed and seven others injured in the blast in which their vehicle was completely damaged.

Meanwhile, dozens of villagers of Trichal area here were allegedly physically assaulted by army men after seven of their men were injured.

The residents were quote by the Kashmir Reader as having said that on Friday the army men went on “rampage”. They alleged that army men barged into houses and physically abused inmates irrespective of age and gender.


Over two dozen people, the residents said were allegedly assaulted by the army men. House hold goods too were ransacked by the army men to vent their anger after the attack, they said.

Meanwhile, the doctors at the district hospital confirmed that 20 injured people were brought to the hospital for treatment on Thursday night.

Army’s Srinagar based PRO Rajesh Kalia was quoted by KR as having said that the allegations of highhandedness by the armed forces were being ascertained.
