Srinagar: Director General of Police (DGP) Jammu and Kashmir Nalin Prabhat, IPS, chaired a high-level security review meeting at Police Control Room (PCR) Kashmir to assess preparations for the upcoming Eid Milad-un-Nabi (ﷺ), Raksha Bandhan and other major events across Jammu and Kashmir.
The meeting focused on security deployment, crowd management, surveillance, traffic regulation and emergency response. Senior officers were directed to maintain heightened vigilance and adopt proactive security measures ahead of the events.
The meeting was attended by Spl DGP Coordination J&K, IGP Kashmir Zone, IGP Jammu Zone, Range DIGs, district SSPs/PDs, SSP PCR Kashmir, AIG (Ct & Int) PHQ and other senior officers.
During the meeting, the DGP reviewed the preparedness of various field formations and called for foolproof security arrangements at major shrines, mosques and other religious places. Particular emphasis was laid on Dargah Hazratbal and other prominent religious sites expected to witness large gatherings and nightlong prayers.
Prabhat directed officers to intensify surveillance at sensitive and vulnerable locations and ensure sufficient deployment at strategic points and areas likely to witness heavy public movement. He also stressed close coordination among field formations to enable the prompt identification and handling of any emerging security situation.
Traffic management and route regulation were also discussed in detail. The DGP instructed officers to put in place comprehensive arrangements around major religious sites and along procession routes to facilitate the smooth and safe movement of devotees and the general public.
Security preparations for Raksha Bandhan were also reviewed, with officers directed to make advance arrangements at markets, temples and other prominent religious places expected to see increased footfall.
The DGP emphasised that all field formations must remain alert, coordinated and responsive throughout the events. He also called for adequate contingency measures to address any unforeseen situation.
Prabhat directed that all security, traffic and crowd-management arrangements be finalised well in advance to ensure the peaceful, safe and secure conduct of Eid Milad-un-Nabi, Raksha Bandhan and other forthcoming events across Jammu and Kashmir.
Meanwhile, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, on the blessed occasion of Milad-un-Nabi ﷺ, extended greetings and salutations to people, describing the life and message of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ as an eternal source of guidance for humanity.
He said the occasion should renew commitment to the Prophet’s Seerah and Sunnah and inspire people to uphold his teachings through kindness, honesty, compassion and service to others.
“Milad-un-Nabi ﷺ Mubarak,” the Mirwaiz said, while emphasising the values of peace, compassion and brotherhood embodied in the Prophet’s message.
