Kulgam search operation: 11 civilians sustain pellet injures in clashes

Srinagar: At least eleven youth were injured in clashes in Ghat Khudwani area of Kulgam district where a cordon and search operation is underway since Saturday morning.

According to reports, eleven youth sustained pellet injuries in the ongoing clashes with the armed forces.

The injured were shifted sub district hospital Qaimoh where from one with an eye injury was referred to district hospital Anantnag for specialised treatment.

Reports said that the search operation is on despite the clashes between the protesters and the forces.

An official said that three militants are believed to be hiding in the area. “Searches are underway,” he said, adding that reinforcements have been rushed to the area to prevent militants from escaping.

So far, no contact has been established with the militants, he said.

Earlier, it was reported that that youth took to streets and clashed with the forces after the latter launched a CASO in the area. The search operation was launched after inputs about presence of militants in the area.

Kulgam has been on the edge since the killing of seven civilians in a blast at a gunfight site in the Laroo village recently.
