Rains hit Kashmir plains; Gulmarg, higher reaches witness fresh snowfall

Srinagar: Tourist spot Gulmarg, along with other higher reaches, witnessed fresh snowfall while rains lashed the plains on Friday.

Fresh snowfall and rains have resulted in a drop in the day mercury while minimum temperature was above normal.

A Met department spokesman said there could be snow and rain in the Jammu and Kashmir during the next two days.

Tree tops, open fields and roof tops had turned white as fresh snowfall was experienced in world famous ski resort of Gulmarg, 50 km from here in north Kashmir district of Baramulla since last night, said a report.

Furthermore, it snowed at Affarwat, Seven springs, Khilanmarg and other higher heights.

Electricity supply to majority of areas in Srinagar city was disrupted after transmission lines were damaged due to strong winds and rains last night.
