Urge UN to send fact finding team to Kashmir to assess ground situation, says Mirwaiz

Srinagar: Chairman of the Hurriyat (M) Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has urged the United Nations to send a fact finding team to Kashmir to assess the ground situation and urge upon the Government of India to stop the human rights violations ‘committed by its forces in the valley.’

Mirwaiz, who was released from house detention an hour before Friday prayers, also said that it was highly condemnable that all the resistance leadership has been caged ahead of the world rights day and that nocturnal raids were being conducted on activists while candle light vigil too was being disallowed.

Soon after the congregational prayers concluded, the Mirwaiz led a protest against the “rising graph” of rights violations in Kashmir outside Jamia Masjid Srinagar.
