Saliha Akhoon, Deputy of Zakir Musa, other militants killed in Tral identified, says Police

Srinagar: Six militants of the Zakir Musa lead Ansar Ghazat-ul-Hind who were killed in a gunfight in Tral village of Pulwama district have been identified.

The slain have been identified as Sualeh Mohammad Akhoon son of Ghulam Mohammad Akhoon of Arampora, Rasik Mir son of Ghulam Qadir, Rouf Mir son of Ghulam Nabi, Umer Ramzan son of Mohammad Ramzan Mir, residents of Dadsara, Nadeem Sofi son of Mohammad Muzaffar Sofi of Batgund Tral and Faisal Javid Khanday son of Javid Khanday of Amlar Awantipora.

Earlier, a joint team of army’s 42 RR, SOG and CRPF launched a cordon-and-search operation following “credible inputs” about the presence of militants at Arampora hamlet of Dadsara on Saturday, reported GNS while quoting a police officer.

The report added that the forces fired some warning shots towards a ‘militant hideout’ situated in an orchard along the Tral-Awantipora road. The militant group hiding inside the hideout opened fire triggering off a gunfight which lasted for a brief time, he said.

Meanwhile, intense clashes had erupted between armed forces and civilian protesters in parts of Tral after the killing of militants. Train service between Banihal and Baramulla has been suspended due to apprehension of ‘law and order problems’.
