Srinagar: In an ongoing gunfight which erupted in the Hajin Payeen area of Rajpora village of Pulwama, two militants have been killed.
News agency GNS reported that the militants were affiliated with the Jaish-e-Muhammad outfit.
There are reports that two more militants are believed to be trapped in the area.
Cops said that the gunfight broke out after the armed forces launched a search operation in Hajin Payeen following a tip-off about the presence of militants. He said army’s 44RR, 182 and 183 BN CRPF and SOG Pulwama jointly launched the operation.
Meanwhile, intense clashes erupted near the gunfight site. Reports said that the residents, especially youth, came out of their houses and pelted stones at the armed forces as soon as the news of gunfight spread in the area.
