PDP’s 10 ward heads of Amira Kadal zone resign from the party

Srinagar: Ten ward heads of Peoples Democratic Party’s Amira Kadal zone on Monday resgined from the basic membership of the party.

They, in a joint letter addressed to party president Mehbooba Mufti said, “Madam, following the resignation of our Zone President Mohammad Ashraf Dar and the elected members of JKPDP Zone Committee Amirakadal, we the elected Ward Presidents along with our respective ward committees of Amirakadal constituency hereby tender resignation from our basic membership of the Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party (JKPDP) with immediate effect from 28-01-2019.”

Below are the names of Ward Presidents who have decided to dissociate themselves from the PDP henceforth:

Ghulam Ahmad Dagga (Ward President Mehjoor Nagar); Mohammad Jamal Bhat (Ward President Budshah Nagar); Ghulam Mohammad Rah (Ward President Chanapora); Mohammad Ashraf Bhat (Ward president Rajbagh); Mohammad Abbas Bhadur (Ward President Ikhrajpora/JN); Abdul Qayoom Teli (Ward President Baghat Barzulla); Peer Wajahat (Ward President Lal Chowk), Shakil Ahmad (Ward President Natipora); Mohammad Maqbool Dar (Ward President Hyderpora) and Nazir Ahmad Dar (Ward president Rawalpora).

Recently, for ‘anti-party activities’, Peoples Democratic Party expelled its senior member Altaf Bukhari from the party, saying that party has been watching his activities with concern for quite some time.

Recently two senior leaders of the PDP Syed Basharat Bukhari and Peer Mohammad Hussainresigned from the Party and joined the National Conference. However the PDP, in a statement had said that they have expelled the two for indulging in ‘Anti-Party’ activities.

Earlier, PDP leader from Uri Raja Ajaz Ali Khan resigned from the party along with party workers. Khan said that all his workers including block presidents who were with PDP earleir have decided to quit from the party.

Recently, MLA Tangmarg, Abbas Wani resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).  Wani has sent a letter in this regard to PDP president, Mehbooba Mufti.

Moreover, PDP received a major setback when former finance minister Haseeb A Drabu and former MLA Zadibal, Abid Ansari left the party recently.

Announcing his resignation on Twitter, Ansari had said the PDP has failed the people on all fronts and ‘I don’t want to be part of lies and deception’.

Former Finance Minister Drabu, in his letter to the PDP chief wrote, “Even though I have not been a dissident — you are aware I had resigned from the cabinet, assembly and party nearly two years ago which you didn’t accept — I have disengaged from the party affairs for quite some time now.”
