Srinagar: PDP Chief Mehbooba Mufti has said that had a New Zealand like massacre taken place in India, leadership would have politicized it, indulged in war mongering and covertly supported attacks on Muslims.
While praising the Prime Minister of New Zealand for calling it a terror attack, Mehbooba said:
Admire how New Zealand PM conducted herself & addressed the media post #christchurchnz attacks. Clearly stating that there is no place for such terror attacks & that NZ is a home to all the migrant communities regardless of their religion. Respect for such leadership qualities.

In another tweet, she said:We all have a lesson or two to learn from it. Had the same incident happened here, the leadership would have politicised it, indulged in war mongering and covertly supported attacks on muslims.

National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah also pointed out that people are calling it a terror attack, what is actually is, not a firing incident.Good to see most people are calling the #NewZealandMosqueFiring what it is – a terror attack. #NewZealandTerroristAttack. No words of condemnation are strong enough & no words of sympathy for the families adequate enough. May Allah grant them Jannat.

Earlier, Chairman of the Hurriyat (M) Mirwaiz while expressing shock over the incident said that that humanity has once again become a casualty.
The terrorist who killed at least 40 worshippers in one mosque was a right-wing extremist with Australian citizenship, Prime Minister of Australia Scott Morrison said.
Morrison said the shooting in Christchurch was carried out by “an extremist, right-wing, violent terrorist” who was an Australian-born citizen.
He declined to provide further details, saying the investigation was being led by New Zealand authorities.

According to New Zealand Herald Ardern said it was an “unprecedented” situation and described it as a terrorist attack. Those in custody had not been on any terrorism watch list: “It’s not a matter of someone having slipped under the radar.”
She said it was obvious the attacks had been planned for some time. Three people were arrested in relation to the attacks, while one other was arrested separately.
Ardern said she could not give any more detail about the alleged offenders. There were two bombs attached to suspects’ vehicles but they had been disarmed.
The National Security Threat Level had been lifted from low to high.
