Hajin Gunfight: Charred bodies of two militants, minor boy recovered

Srinagar: Two militants and a 12 year old boy were killed in a gunfight in Hajin area of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Friday.

The gunfight which was going on in Mir mohalla locality since Thursday afternoon ended this morning with the death of both the militants and the local minor boy.

An official said that charred bodies of both the militants and a 12-year-old boy were recovered during the searches.

“Two AK-47 rifles were recovered during the searches which are still going on at the gunfight site,” he said.

The boy has been identified as Atif Mir.

Reports said that the armed forces razed the house to ground with IED blasts. Reports added that the militants killed in the gunfight were associated with Lashkar-e-Toiba.

While the authorities have shut the educational institutions in the area, the mobile internet services have also been suspended.

On Thursday the cops had said, “Security forces are carrying out the operation with caution as two civilians are reportedly inside the house from where the militants are firing,” a police officer said. A civilian was rescued from the house while a 12-year-old boy remained stuck inside.
