Pulwama gunfight: Four LeT militants killed, three army men, cop injured

Srinagar: Four militants were killed, three army men and a policeman wounded in a gunfight in Lassipora area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Monday.

Reports said a gunfight broke out between the militants and the forces in Lassipora early Monday morning.

The killed militants were associated with the Lashkar-e-Toiba militant outfit. Officials said three army men were wounded in the gunfight who were evacuated to a health facility for treatment.

In the initial exchange of fire three army soldiers and one policeman sustained injuries. They have been hospitalized for the treatment of their injuries and are stated to be stable,” said a police spokesman.

He said the bodies of the slain militants have been recovered from the gunfight site. “Incriminating material including arms and ammunition was recovered from the site of the gunfight. Police has registered a case,” he said.

Meanwhile, Internet has been suspended in the twin districts of Pulwama and Shopian.
