LS Polls: Clashes erupt in various parts of Budgam district

Srinagar: Amid polling for the second phase of parliamentary elections in Jammu and Kashmir, clashes erupted in various parts of Budgam district.

According to reports, clashes ensued at several places including in main town Beerwah, Kandoora, Chewdara, Kawoosa and Rathsun villages.

Reports added that youths pelted stones on armed forces deployed for polling duty and polling stations. They retaliated by using tear smoke shells and pellets.

Meanwhile, a complete shutdown is being observed across the valley.

All the business establishments remained closed in Srinagar while traffic was off the roads. Heavy deployment of the police and paramilitary forces has been made at all the sensitive places across the Srinagar-Budgam parliamentary constituency seat which is going to polls.
