‘Be ready for dire consequences if you vote’: Hizb posters in Shopian, Pulwama warn people

Hizbul Mujahideen has threatened to ‘kill those who cast vote’ in the last phase of the Lok Sabha polls in Shopian and Pulwama district.

Posters have been pasted at several places on walls and electric polls threatening people of dire consequences who participate in the polling on May 6.

“We have information that Army might force you to cast votes. But every one should understand that they need to make a choice. Those who cast vote on the polling day in Shopian will be killed,” the poster reads.

The poster has also asked parents to not send their wards to Army Goodwill Schools. “Our commander Riyaz Naikoo has told you time and again to desist from polls but some people don’t listen.

“The time is over now, we will act against them and put their videos in public,” the poster reads.

Shopian and Pulwama will go to polls on May 6. Election Commission for the first time has divided the polls for Anantnag parliamentary constituency in three phases.

Meanwhile, nocturnal raids continue in South Kashmir and at least 44 more persons were detained by the armed forces on Wednesday night.

On Wednesday, at least 19 persons were picked up by the Armed forces from Gudoora, Newa and Parigam villages of Pulwama district.

On Monday, Armed forces detained at least 21 persons in a nocturnal raid in Murran village of Pulwama district. The cops said that they were detained in relation with allegations of stone pelting.
