Srinagar: JK Governor Satya Pal Malik on Monday said that the killing of political workers should be not be linked with the security withdrawal which was recently done in the state.
He said that certain quarters are spreading rumors that the killings take place due to the security withdrawal.
Last week, a political worker of the BJP was killed by militants at his home in Anantnag.
While terming the killing unfortunate Governor Malik said that the people who were killed were never “categorised”.
“We will sit within few days time and discuss the withdrawal of security. Also, Chief Secretary will see if security withdrawal played any part in these killings or not,” said Malik.
Omar Abdullah, the Vice President of the National Conference had in a tweet said that the withdrawal of security was a ‘foolish decision disconnected from reality’.
Not long ago senior BJP leaders were bragging about how undeserving people had had their security withdrawn in J&K. I’d warned against the decision then & yesterday’s assassination of Gul Mohd Mir only confirms what I’d feared – it was a foolish decision disconnected from reality
