BJP holds protest in Srinagar, demands security cover for political workers

Srinagar: BJP’s state unit on Tuesday held a protest in Srinagar and demanded security cover for all the political workers of the party.

Recently, BJP’s Anantnag Vice President of BJP was killed by militants at his home.

The State General Secretary Ashok Koul as a mark of protest against the withdrawal of security from political activists surrendered his security. Koul left his PSO’s in the press enclave and left in an auto saying if their workers can’t have security cover, he too will not ask for it.

He was also accompanied by the media in charge Altaf Thakur.

Moreover, on Monday, Governor Satya Pal Malik said that the killing of political workers should be not be linked with the security withdrawal which was recently done in the state.

While terming the killings unfortunate Governor Malik said that the people who were killed were never “categorised”.

Since the imposition of Governor’s rule in Jammu and Kashmir, Government has withdrawn security cover of 919 persons which include 22 pro-freedom leaders.
