Srinagar: A protest was held against the alleged rape of a three year old girl of Sumbal area of Bandipora. Protesters, mostly youth, demanded strict and fast action against the rapist.
Scores of youths from various areas of Srinagar assembled at the Press colony holding placards and banners in their hands with the messages like “Girls are not toys”, “Hang the rapist Tahir Ahmad”, “RIP Humanity and “We want Justice”.
One of the protesters said that such ‘beasts shouldn’t be kept in jails but hanged.
“I dodn’t underdstand why do we have to keep such a person in jail. What kind of a man does such a thing to a three year old girl. This is absolutely insane. He should be hanged,” the protester said.
The protesters also alleged that some people are trying to shield the culprit. They appealed J&K governor Satya Paul Malik and Director General of Police to take stringent action against the culprit.
