Jammu and Kashmir BJP president Ravinder Raina has said his party is for early abrogation of Articles 370 and 35-A of the Constitution. Both the articles accord special status and privileges to the residents of Jammu and Kashmir.
He also expressed confidence that the BJP will form the next government in the State on its own.
Raina said his party will work for defreezing of the eight Assembly seats reserved for refugees from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and revoking of the cumbersome M-Form exercise for Kashmiri migrant pandits before the next Assembly polls.
“Article 370, a temporary transitional provision, is the biggest injustice with the people of Jammu and Kashmir, while the Article 35A is a constitutional blunder which was included through back door without the consent of Parliament and the president…We wish the early abrogation of both these constitutional provisions,” Mr. Raina told reporters in Jammu.
The BJP has time and again reiterated that Article 370 will be scrapped once the BJP comes into power. BJP President Amit Shah had said that after forming the Government in New Delhi, they will remove Article 370 of the Indian Constitution.
Moreover, Narendra Modi had said that those who say that Kashmir will secede from India if Article 370 goes don’t deserve Indian Citizenship.
